When can I stop being nice to banks

Dear All,

After a very frustrating weeks dealing with my banks over repaying my debt, (I am behind on a couple of accounts) I am getting so frustrated with them either
a) not taking me seriously.
b) mis qutoing me later by saying "you said you would pay x by y date",.
c) not taking adequates / anynotes notes when I speak to them.
d) ignoring any letter I send them.

So this morning at 9:30 when the hsbc phoned me from an local number, for the 8 time in two days, (most times when I pick up the phone goes dead at the other end, and even though they have a number you cannot ring them back), I told them the wrong date of birth, to which they replied "thats not the one they have on file, is that correct", I said oh well and hung up. Within two minutes they called from an 0800 number, I confirmed my name and told them I would only deal with them in writting, (I have wrote to tell them this), to which they said we need to confirm its you to confirm as we cannot see the notes without confirming it is me, I told them I wouldnt go through security and told them to write to me instead.

I have wrote to them, I have made them an offer for repaying my debt, based upon phone calls with them - which they have not responded. When can I stop being nice to them? How can I frustrate them as much as they done to me. Arghhhh.

TC.

I remember HSBC being a complete pain.

This makes good reading if you are fed up with phone calls : Having fun with Debitas

I'm not suggesting you do any of that, but reading it cheers me up.;)

Since they appear to be behaving in a totally unreasonable fashion, I am tempted to suggest that you open a new account, at a Bank that has no links with your existing bank. Arrange to have your salary, and any other payments, paid into your new account, then treat the 'overdraft' at your existing bank, in the same way that you would with any other debt.
Make token payments of, say £1 per month, into the account until they have agreed a payment plan with you.

I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
