Roof doesn't need doing for 2-3 years apparently. so obviously didn't do it as it doesn't need doing now. We were not made aware of any roof issues on our survey.

Getting quotes in though, and will replace the few damaged tiles -wherever they are and get someone to look at joists.

We had a pretty decent survey and none of this came up-otherwise we would have done it!!

I guess it's just all excuses and they've just changed their minds so that just shows how frustrating the system is. 3 months later and you just walk away.

    Thanks for all the ideas.

I was going to post and ask for advice myself, I have 2 houses to sell, neither selling etc (am not a 'developer' before the nasties get their knickers in a twist and start wishing financial ruin on me!) but after reading the responses you got, I don't think I'll bother,

Those that have posted a rightmove link and have asked for help, have usually got lots of constructive posts back. If there are any "nasty" posts, then just scroll past them.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

House selling is never meant to be quick though, and as a Buyer I can see the usefulness of being able to 'walk' away. It is after all the biggest financial decision of your life... you have to 'complete' before anything is certain.

If you are living in a house, though, having the whole roof done is a HUGE deal, I think? So if I were buying now, and the roof needed doing in that time scale, I'd see that as a major issue.

Agree. The fact they say 2-3 years means 'it's not leaking now, but it will soon, so it needs changing during your ownership' (assuming most people keep houses for 2-3 years at least)
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • ..i apologise if this has been addressed above but i'm too lazy to read all the replies... :o (and i'm supposed to be working...)

..could you not move into the house and 'rough it' for a while to see if the market comes back on track... if your kids are in school already the catchment problem shouldn't matter and if only a couple of them are in school i think most places are preferential towards current childrens siblings when it comes to admittance....
..at the very least you'll save on the rent you're paying...
