outgoings and earnings

Could anyone please have a look at this for me? I've gone over and over these figures for my court date on tuesday and I think this should be the final draft. I don't think I have left anything out.

For my earnings I have taken the last three months wages but deducted the overtime as they have changed our shifts at work so there is no longer a need for overtime to be worked. So my household income is as follows

wages me £1251
wages partner £144
partner student loan £500

Total £1895

Our outgoings
Rent £475
Council Tax £100
Gas and Electric £109.50
Water £36.19
Tv License £11.33
Travel Costs £196
Clothing £100
Food £360
Phone and broadband £50 (broadband needed for partner at uni)
Pet care £30
Mobiles £35
Birthdays and Christmas £30
Holiday £30
Gym membership/ leisure £56
Haircuts £20
Prescriptions £16
Contact Lens £33
Books for partners course £20
Emergency fund £50
Meals at work/ uni £20
Home insurance £29

Total Outgoings £1807.02
Total left £87.98.

Do you have a vehicle, and then insurance, road tax, breakdown cover for that? professional memberships? dry cleaning? Dentist?

I do not drive so no vehicle. I have no pet insurance but I am going to take this out so would I include this? Is there anything I need to increase or decrease in your opinion? Can you place an allowance for replace of furniture or household goods? The reason I put an emergency fund was as last month I had to replace my vaccum cleaner and I need a new set of drawers for bedroom furniture. The dentist is pretty infrequent so how much could you put for that? I thought that might be covered in prescriptions.

Does student loan count as income? Is that £500 every month?

The student loan is £6000 per annum. I have no idea if it is counted as an income. I assumed it did but I have read on here before (as my partner will also be declaring herself BR but not just yet) that it cannot be claimed by the OR for IPA's etc.

Doing an I&E is not an exact science as most OR's will have things that they will allow/disallow that are different. So it is a case of trying to think of everything and then the OR can always lower things if he wants.

if you can just pop up your revised I&E then we can have another quick look for you.

Miss Muppett, the clothes are ok. Yes the gas/electric is high but if like me you are on night storage heaters then in mid winter we were on £45 a week and at the mo we are on £25/30 a week, so it could be right. Pets you are usually allowed about £20 but I didn't comment on it as it may be laeft at that or reduced by the OR. Contact lenses they should leave as is and see what the OR says as well.

That's ok then, thought I'd ask because when I did mine last year I tried to keep everything as low as possible... I had about £30 a month surplus so it wasn't a problem. :)
  • Hi,

I think you might have to reduce your phne bill as you have one for the phone and internet and another for a mobile, both are abit high, i was only allowed £25 for both.

Clothes are abit high too. I put down for pet insurance and my OR turned it down, along with holidays, christmas and birthdays.I think its luck of the draw whether your OR allows it.

Your contact lense seem high the OR might question this and ask for proof.
Meals at work and uni arnt allowed and should come out of your housekeeping.
