Dont worry about how many times you get your own score or view your own report via experian online - these searches only show up on your version of the report and will not affect your credit rating it actually states this at the bottom on the report. to quote experian

"unrecored enquiry, quotations, identity verification checks and credit report applications are shown for you on your copy of the report but are not seen by lenders".;)

when you view your own report it will record it as id generic report or experian report.

this makes sense as you may want to regularly check it for updates, fraud etc

You could always phone Experian and ask for a copy - it will only cost you £2 rather than the £6.

It wont cost to look at the report but it will cost each time you calculate your score.

I pay 6.95 a month and i am viewing it every day at the moment as i am waiting for a number of items to be updated I have been doing this for around 2 months and its a flat rate however each time you tick the little check box to add your credit score that will cost another 5.95 a go so just dont tick the box for the credit score and you will be ok. Experian also keep a record of your calculated credit scores in the section "past credit scores" which you can view for free. whats interesting is I also registered with "check my file" and they said that my experian credit score was lower that what experian said it was!! I think experians own credit score is more reliable and will be using them directly from now on.

From a mortgage point of view the Experian Credit Score doesn't count for anything anyway as each lender has their own scoring system, which they tinker with occasionally to regulate the business they take in.

From the cost point of view, i was assuming that the OP had registered over 30 days ago and was now being asked to pay the monthly fee

  • Hi,

I am currently using a broker from L&C and have to say that she is fantastic!!! She keeps me up to date with my progress and also let me know when deals were going to be withdrawn. I made my application with her about 3 weeks ago and it should hopefully be going to offer this week (fingers crossed). I know what pple have said abt L&C being potluck so if you want the contact of my advisor, drop me a private message and I can give it to you. At least you won't have to worry about a lack of service... ;)
