in a cupboard in my bungalow i have a hot water tank(its a dual tank hot+cold)now there copper pies beside it coming from the loft, and its uninsulated(the pipe in the cupboard, loft one is insualted) and condensation has been drippnig down onto shelf holding the tank and the shelfs warped, iam worried its gonig to give way,and a plumber came the other day and said he would have to disconnect the whole system to replace shelf under it,if i insulate the copper pipes in the cupboard will the problem stop????as i dont want the tank fallnig thru the shelf

Hi
I would say 'yes. Insulate the pipes.
One question . Is your hot water very hot ?

Hi
I would say that the water being so hot is producing some steam from the open vent which is over the cold section on top. This gets into the cupboard and condenses on the pipe work.
(It's probably a Fortic cylinder)

The tank should have a lid on top.
The cyl stat (or immersion stat) should be 60 degrees C.
