How do I value insurance claim?

Hi all,
I'm unfortunately having to make a claim on my contents insurance following a water leak.
My insurance company has asked me to forward a list of damaged goods along with photos and details of the age and value.
It's the first time I've had to make a claim, and wondered whether I'm suppose to state the value when purchased, or the value to replace now?
Any help appreciated!
