Have you given notice to your landlord? There will probably be something in the contract about how much notice you have to give. Let the gas/electric/phone etc know you are leaving and take final readings for gas & electric and state when you ring them that they are the final readings. Phone/broadband/TV etc need to know when you are leaving so they only charge you to when you leave.

Hope the move back home goes well.

Rog my mum did do that, us kids moved back home 1 by 1 until all 6 of us were back on a 'temporary' basis all over the age of 20. Anyway, one day it was way past dinner time and she wasn't home, so we phoned my nan asking if she'd seen her (in the days before mobiles). Nan told us that mum had gone and rented the house up the road for 6 months

We found her though and thank god she still had an oven and a washing machine so we weren't totally abandoned :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm glad we can joke about it, Toto. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

To be honest, we don't mind about my son - he now 'pays his way' and we don't really see a lot of him. But, and it doesn't end there - eldest daughter, when she broke up with her partner, five years ago, turned up with her clothes in bin bags and her two cats. After two years, she 'moved out' again, to buy a house with her new partner. New partner doesn't like cats, so we've still got the two cats - and they got a dog. Fine, so far, until Monday last, when she turned up again   . So far no sign of the dog. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I just hope my younest daughter is happy in Manchester.

    No wonder we're broke.

  • I forgot to mention Numpty, I live with my Mum and sometimes I could die of embarrassment (re men - do not cross the threshold!), sometimes I could go nuts ( bit of a routine nut is my Mum ) but mostly I laugh a fair bit and we get on pretty well, I won't lie sometimes it hard so I understand the need for hugs, but over all I will be out of this self inflicted disaster and its for the best.

    Good luck hon

Aww, I don't want my kids to ever leave home. But when they inevitably do, I wouldn't think twice about taking them back in if they ever needed me to either.

Haven't got much practical advice, but can definitely offer a (((hug))).

    Numpty sweetheart

You have provided so much inspiration, humour and support to us all. Without me forming any opinion in advance..and totally recognising your need to want to DO something..would you like to just go through all the options to a listening ear?

    I will PM you shortly.

    Very very BIG hugs
