Average monthly cost of elec. and gas

I'm attempting to move out of home and just trying to work out costs e.t.c I have briefly lived away from home before but all bills were all included. In this place I'm looking at they aren't. I would be sharing with one other person so the bills would be split. Rent is £400 p.c.m plus bills. How much should I allow each month for elec. and gas? I really have no idea how it works so I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you.

i am a student, sharing a two bed flat with another student.

We hardly ever have heating on and use what must be an average amount of electricty and our bills have worked out at about £800 a year- so £400 each.

    It's so hard to quantify!

It really depends on house/flat, age of property, energy efficiency, number of raditators, open-plan or not, number of rooms, shower and bath usage, washing machine/ dishwasher usage, carpets or laminate, double glazing etc.

I pay £25 gas, £15 elec PCM (that's £480 annually), in an open plan, 2-bed 1904 mid terrace, double glazed, carpetted, with almost no energy efficiency, heating is on about 5 hours a day in the colder months. I live alone and mostly shower at the gym, no dishwasher, washing maching on once a week.

However I'm on a fixed tariff from 2005 so I can't say how representative this is of current prices.

I'd say for a shared flat around £600-£800 a year for the whole property (so apportion this) is probably reasonable.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
