Well, it's been around for a good 15 years or so now, and I havent actually read many bad things about it, so I guess on that basis it does work. Certainly when I have been to Trade shows and they been showing it, the figures which are independently backed, seem to be hard to dispute. You will notice a small loss of light with it though (but it is small, and most say negligable). Even the Energy Savings Trust promote it, so there must be merit in it.

Pilkingtons are a world leader in glass technology, I don't think they would make untrue claims, or if they did they would have been "found out" by now !
This type of glass is approved by The Energy Saving Trust.0 -
Pilkingtons K glass is the trade name for low e glass. Yes it has higher insulating properties than standard glass. High E and helium filled both give even better insulation.
The latest product is Pilkington active which is self cleaning. Again other manufactures make it.0 -
You have no choice but to choose energy saving glass now, so whilst you ticked a box for it, it was a false choice. Pilkington K is merely a trade name of one particualr type.0

As a glazier and installer of low e,housewives often complain that the the slight tint in this type of glass makes their nets/white blinds etc. look dirty !0
