how's it going with your raised beds? hope they've been enjoyable and productive.
I've had some raised beds built on concrete and got a shock at cost of topsoil so not sure how I'm going to fill them !
also researching about drainage.0 -
topsoil shouldn't be all that pricey. check out local garden centres/nurseries for prices by the tonne, including delivery, it will certainly be cheaper than buying it in bags from a DIY type place.0

hmm
There is a little patch of my garden that I am thinking of making a raised bed `ove. It will be on stone flags. Obviously there will be nutrient leech, but I will just add more fertiliser. I will have to keep an eye out for drying out in dry spells - but we all have this problem with containers anyway so a big area is less of a problem.
If you choose shallow rooters like strawbs and leafy veg like the lettuce family you will do ok. Look at the world around you and see the unhospitable bits of sod where plants grow. With a bit of TLC you could do better. Go for it. What have you got to lose?
Sorry to the previous poster, but I think you are overcomplicating it with concrete talk.Freedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).
