I don't know if this should be a "vent" or a "warning" or posted elsewhere?
Yesterday afternoon I made an application for Experian's "free" 30 day trial.
After submitting the application, which didn't finalise, a message to the effect that I had previously accessed my credit report online and I must log in if I wished to see it.
I have NEVER seen my credit report through Experian or anyone else, nor have I made any application before.
I obviously don't know the log in deatils but I tried to obtain the password, three times, by providing separate e-mail addresses I use/have used over the last two or three years. so someone has used their own e-mail and password to register and must still be able to access my details with Experian.
I have sent Experian an e-mail asking for an explanation and will also 'phone them on Monday.
I have purchased the £2 version to send to my home address to make sure it's o.k. and accurate.
So it would seem that unknown to me, someone has been able to access my credit report using my personal details.
Experian really now need to explain very carefully and to my satisfaction how this can happen. Their system is definitely not infallible?

A little OT perhaps, but I had the Credit Expert thing on a month's trial with Experian before - cancelled it before the free month was up.
Anyway, they kept emailing me every day and said "there's activity on your credit file." I logged in, checked it, and the only thing I could see was their automated file checker looking for anything to report.
I suppose that's a good thing that it detects itself, but a little annoying to email me about something that's to be expected it.0
