i went into my local store and ordered one of those wooden forts that were origionally £100 in the spring/summer design directory just waiting to see if it arrives its a supplier order which means it might not arrive but its worth a try the number is t21 4710d and it is £15
Just ordered it for my nephew"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
Have just received a call from M&S website customer services, to say that one of the items I ordered on 20% off day (5 days ago) isn't in stock and they are refunding the money to my card.
It's for a Christmas pressie, and I'm pretty sure my Mom won't be fussed if it's brown or beige, so I asked if I could have the beige instead, at the price I had paid.
I was categorically told "No". Website customer services were quite rude and said there was nothing I could do. If I wanted in the other colour I would have to pay full price plus a delivery charge.
I am more than a little annoyed, but have now convinced head office to allow me to buy the item in my local store, and refund me the difference between the price paid and the discounted price I would have received.
Even so, they will only do this in gift vouchers.
When you place an order, they say they will telephone you as soon as possible if there's a problem. Am I alone in thinking five days' later, as they despatch your order (that's another reason why I can't get the product without delivery, because they didn't tell me until they sent the rest of it), is not "as soon as possible?
Sorry to rant, but nothing gets me annoyed like large corporates messing up and then making their (already dwindling) customers pay for it.

If they took the money they are obliged to supply the goods at the price stated or make recompense for "Loss of Bargain" they CANNOT insist that this is in gift tokens, I suggest you call them back and point out that in taking this action they are violating your rights as a consumer, a call to Trading Standards might be a good idea before you speak to them,
Good luck although you shouldn't need it as the law is on your side with this one!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
They just cant handle the sales!!! first they dont make clear what is discounted and then they play havoc with deliveries.
Any self respecting company would be able to manage online real live prices as well as delivery. On top of that their attitude is "do what you want" and "we dont give !!!!!!". I had s imilar situation and sent off a letter to the head office and havnt even had a reply.0 -

I have used M & S for a while online.
I have had some really excellent service and equally some dreadful transactions that have all gone wrong!!
In my experience the customer service people are not particularly helpful (trying to be polite!) but I have had a better response when I have emailed (ie have got postage refunded and one item free). Having said that I do need to go through all my credit card details to check what has happened with it all!!
I have returned a parcel of items and M&S have not emailed to confirm receipt is this usual???
I have just ordered the fort and some figures for it just put in code mentioned in earlier thread at top of page where there is a little box says enter code or keyword I think. hope that helps
wow I never thought this thread would still be going now or that there would be more bargains found every day!!!
THANK YOU ALL!!!
I hope I can start the next M&S bargain thread too as it has been great fun following this one from the start!
;D ;D ;D ;D :-* :-* :-*::)

Hi Ben
Sorry to butt in but can I ask you something regarding the above? I bought stuff from Argos (RO) and they took my money but then couldnt find the items (they were reserved items and there were 3 of them). They insisted on giving a refund but I wanted another item of the same value (not price though). I have submitted a complaint to TS but havent heard from them. Do I have a leg to stand on?
again, sorry to butt in!

I have had nothing but great service from good old M&S. Some superb orders delivered and when they have not had the goods in stock a very prompt phone call, even on a Saturday night to explain and apologise and check for other stocks.
I once found that an item was delivered as a single item instead of double, I queried it and was given a refund and p&p refunded without asking. More than I was expecting. It was a bargain anyway!
I once wrote to the Chief Executive to give him some 'advice' about his stores, I got a smashing letter back. I think it's a case of how you talk to these people sometimes.
Personally I think they're great and I can't wait for the sales.
sal ;Dyou can't take it with you...0 -
What do you mean by same value? Isn't value the same as price? ???0

sorry that maybe wasnt correctly put:
by value I meant in terms of 'worth'
the pram (toy) was worth £50 but on sale for £12.49. I wanted a similar item (they had prams like this for £50) for the price I paid (ie £12.49) as I had reserved the pram and had travelled from E London to W London to get it. The transaction was processed but at the till I was told they didnt have it. (two actually).0
