FTB - we have completed on a property and have taken out building insurance.
We are about to contact the company regard some works we would like to carry out - a damp proof course and some added timber frames and purlins to strengthen the roof.
The builders have Professional Indemnity Insurance and come highly recommended.
Does anyone think this may be a problem with the building insurance, could they say no to the proposed work or refuse to insure us while the work is going on? Apologies for the silly question but we have never had to take out building insurance or hire builders!!
many thanks

As long as you arn't modifying the house- i.e. adding extra bedrooms etc then the insurers wont need to know, unless it really is major renovations where the house is unoccupied.
Indeed, what you are doing (maintaining the property) is required by the insurance in the first place. If is puts your mind at ease feel free to give their policies department a call and ask them to note your file.0
