Building Insurance queries and problems

Hello,

I currently have a buildings insurance policy due to expire in we weeks time. Unfortunately i was burgled last yr and had to make a claim - totally no fault of mine or property just pure bad luck. However i now have a letter from the buldings saying i need to confirm my property applies to their basic security requirements or they will cancel my policy.

I need to write in to confirm this and then they can give me renewal info.

I am tempted to take my business else where tbh but have now decided to sell the place and hope to complete on that in a few months time, if i change my insurer i will incur mortgage costs for admin which when i have a few months left owning the property i am not happy to pay.

However goodness knows what the premium will be now with current insurers and then cancellation fees for only a few months of insurance.

Are their any polcies that can cover you month to month till property sold? With no cancellation fees? Can i ask this of my current insurer to save the mortgage admin costs on top?

The solicitors are even asking about any claims and whether i will be staying with insurer and keeping property insured till sale and i am worried as have filled info out saying with current insurer etc and if this changes will it cause problems?

The solcitors have also asked about any insurance claims for property and details of insurer and policy number etc..
I find this a bit strange as surely under data protection only i could access info about my insurance?

Very confused and wondering what to do for best....

Quite tempting to leave buildings uninsured for a few months but knowing my luck something would happen
