Norton not working properly - help please!

Hi All

For the past few days my Norton has been showing a red cross (well, white cross on red background, but you know what I mean!) saying 'Urgent Attention - 1 item is affecting your status' so I click on 'Fix Now' and every single time it does a Live Update to 'Check for Virus Protection Updates'. Now I would have thought that the status would be O.K. once it had done this, but no, it still shows exactly the same problem. No matter how many times I do the live update it still shows the same problem. I have tried running a full system scan but that doesn't solve the problem either. What's going on and what can do to resolve this?

On a separate issue, though I suspect it might be related, I tried to log in to Quidco the other day but I couldn't because it said my cookies were disabled. I have tried to work out how to enable them again but nothing I do works.

Help!!!!

The above suggestion will totally remove Norton ?(you don't say which programme ) from your computer.
If you do this don't forget that you will need the activation code from your installation disk if you reinstall.
BTW When you run live update waht happens?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Thanks

    Norton Internet Security 2006

Live Update seems to run O.K.

Date of full system scan shows as 13/05/08 (?) and date of live virus definitions 12/04/08

what else do you need to know?

If you open your NIS homepage what item is it reporting that requires attention, is you subscription due for renewal for example?
Norton have a live chat line for support, they might be able to talk you through fixing the problem.

It says my virus definitions are not up to date. It can't be my subscription because it was only renewed in January.

I will try the chat line - thank you.

Thanks for your help - all sorted now.

I allowed the analyst to have remote access to my computer and he sorted it out. It would appear the main problem was that the date on my computer was wrong - it was set for 13th May for some unknown reason.

So Norton is now fine, cookies now enabled to I can now log-in to Quidco now. Hooray!
