Can't benefit from any credit card deals

in Credit cards
Hi everyone,
I am a UK permanent resident. However because I am not a citizen, I can't vote or register on the electoral rolls. This means whenever I apply for creditcards I get rejected. It took getting permanent residency to get a proper business account as I was getting rejected for that left and right. Once I got permanent residency, I applied and was approved. Mind you I can get get credit cards though my bank but whenever I want to take advantage of these deals where you have to open a credit card based on info from MSE.com, I can't. Anyone know a work around this problem besides becoming a citizen. I do plan on becoming a citizen by the way but I can't apply until November and it will take another 3-9 months to go through the process. Meanwhile, I am missing deals and not getting the best mortgages and this has reduced my ability to get the best property ladder deals too.
Any thoughts, suggestions, comments?
This dilemma is worth Martin's interest, I hope.:money:
All the best.

Hi balajo,
You dont have to be a UK citizen to be on the electoral roll. Contact your local council to have this sorted.0 -
How long have you resided in UK?
Some banks won't lend unless you have been here for at least 3 years.0 -
When I look at the requirements for electoral roll, it doesn't list my status as eligible.

Perhaps you think I might be from the EU but I am a US citizen. I have been here for 5 years so yes some institutions will provide me mortgages but not at the best rates0 -
Sorry I made the wrong assumptions. Just found out from my local council's website that "People who are not British, Irish, European Union, Commonwealth or British Dependent Territory citizens cannot vote in the UK..."
You will have to wait until you become a citizen then before you can be eligible to register. You have just a few months to go though. Good luck.0
