I want to cut a new window opening into the side of my house, where there wasnt one before. Its on the side, where I dont have any neighbours and I cant see into any ones priavte space.
Ive looked on the planning portal website, but cant find the rules allowing this.
Can anyone help please ?

You shouldn't do as long as you aren't in a conservation area. I should think that you would need building regs approval however for the quality of the work and window.
Take some photos of your wall and your outlook and pop down to your planning office to ask. Better safe than sorry, of course!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Hi
If I was you I'd speak to the local planning department, my Dad did indeed have to have planning consent to put a window in the side roof wall of his chalet bungalow, however he did have a neighboor that side and was only given the ok with the consent stating he could only use frosted glass.0 -
What ever they say good or bad, get them to put it in writing, and file away safely, just in case inthe future some one objects or similar.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Just to piggy back this thread I was thinking of changing the upstairs window in my gable end. When my house got extended (before I bought it) there was a stipulation about this window beingin frosted glass, because of a distant neighbour.
Now if I wasn't to know this can I change the frosted glass for plain? My opinions are purely my own act on them at your own risk :think:0 -
You can change it but I'd be prepared to change it back if they complain!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

That stipulation may well have been put in there because of an objection by that neighbour. If you remove it, you may well fall foul of both that neighbour and the planners. If you know the neighbour well, a freindly chat first might be the best way forward.
