Renting a house with bad credit

Good luck in your search, it is useful that you have somewhere to stay indefinately until you find somewhere suitable, therefore won't jump into somewhere because you are desperate. You could also register with local housing authorities/housing associations etc to maybe get a more secure tenancy in the future. It is a very brave step selling to pay off what you owe but many do say they are so relieved to do so.
I do know many who recently have put a letter through a door for the landlord of empty properties with sign up to rent through a strict estate agents with rules which cause them not to qualify explaining their situation and offering to rent privately (some cheeky ones when they have seen a property which has been empty for a while have negotiated lower rents) Of course including that if they were to accept them as tenants privately they could pay more up front as they would save on the fees. I wish we'd done the same.
I'm with you on the dog thing, they caused us so many issues renting, yet my neighbours were shocked when they seen them as we'd lived here 4 months and they didn't know we had them. I take them out walking the other way, not past their house. They said 'but we haven't seen or heard them and the garden is clean' well that's probably what landlords thought would be an issue. Being treated the same way as irresponsible pet owners is frustrating. One day I might be more organised...........
