Clubcard points question

I've been using a tesco credit card to get extra clubcard points (paying it off in full each month), but I've had two clubcard statements over the last two days.

One has the points and vouchers for my shopping and has my original clubcard number on the statement, and the other has my credit card points and vouchers and the clubcard number is the same as my credit card number.

Is this the way it usually works or should I contact tesco to get them to combine my two 'accounts'?

Heh, not sure if that makes much sense, but hopefully someone will be able to shed light on this. :)

Give them a call...they will link the two accounts so you will get your points on one statement in future.

This was our situation also, when we got the cc. Easy fixed though. :) (If you want it combined that is, lol)

That's what I did too - no problems at all. And once they're combined you just hand over the credit card as you would your clubcard - just remember to tell them if you dont want to pay with it as well, but they usually ask you.

I am sure you all know that you can have your points combined with your OH as well - both mine and OH points come on one statement which is good as he buys his petrol at Tesco. Just make sure they have one of those key fobs that are mini club cards on their car keys!

I haven't ever used my Tesco visa card to buy shopping - I like to pay with my debit so I can see the money available in my account, but I suppose it is a sensible thing to do as you get triple points for shopping in store with it.

I hadn't realised I would need to need to hand over my club card as well as the Tesco visa if I shopped in store, I just thought the points would all automatically go into the same account(like with the John Lewis card.). Do the triple points also apply to petrol bought at Tesco and when shopping on Tesco on line (when using their credit card)?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Henhog,

Sorry, I didnt make that very clear did I :o.

If you have a tesco credit card and you designate that as your clubcard (ie merge your old club card and your credit card points) then you ONLY need to hand over your credit card at the check out to get your points. So...

If you want to pay cash hand over the cash AND your Tesco credit card
If you want to pay by debit card hand over debit and Credit cards.
If you want to pay with your Tesco credit card just hand over the one card and say you'd like to pay with that and use it for your points.

They swipe the credit card at the point that they would normally swipe your clubcard and then do the payment bit seperately.

I've been doing it that way for years and never had any trouble. If you ring cust services and get them to merge the two and tell them you want your credit card to also act as your clubcard that should be fine.

Hope that makes a little more sense!!

So what happens if you hand over your tesco clubcard and then pay with your tesco cc? do you extra points, or will they just be allocated to one and if so which one? (the clubcard I should imagine!!)

    thanks!

I Received my statement the other day as well and was expecting a fair few extra points as i had done an online shop a month before and used the 1000 extra points code.

it said on my shopping confirmation that i'd used it but i had nothing in my statement to show it.

Doah, should i call and make fuss or is that ususal ?

Dont know bluesnice - I dont have a seperate clubcard anymore - just my Tesco Credit Card.

Cullumpster - not sure, got to be worth a quick call to customer services to find out though.

Sorry - seem to be a bit pants on the helpfulness levels today :( Must be something to do with the VAT return I'm desperately trying not to do. Trouble being I have to post it today!!

  • I have had a clubcard Plus account for a long time.. (where I put a set amount in to the account each month) Would I be better off, points wise, getting a Tesco credit card, or do I get the same deal with Clubcard plus anyway?
