    Spotted this by Pyre.

GAMERS: If you play games and want to use a TFT make sure it's refresh rate is no worse than 16MS (@62 FPS) otherwise you could get screen blur.

So if see one at 12ms, Is this better for Gamers , or worse.

12ms is a lower refresh rate so would therefore be better for gamers as the pixels wil refresh (change) quicker and therefore prevent blurring when things on-screen are moving quickly.

From my experience at work I wouldn't buy a TFT without a DVI input. Using the analogue input caused the screen to do strange things with a white backgound. A kind of locallised rolling effect that really bugged me. It wasn't that obvious at first but once I'd spotted it, it really annoyed me. Of course I had to point it out to everyone else just to see if they were suffering the same problem (LOL). Anyway used the DVI cable instead and its fine - solved eveyone elses problem as well.
  • Price for Aria's TFT's has just dropped again. Going for about £167 inc vat now. Sweet. Guess what's on my xmas list?

Having said that Aria also sell Dell 17" TFT's which are identical to the one I use at work and that's only £187. The Dell also displays well on Analogue.

  • I've been looking at 17" TFT for a month now. Mostly on price runners to get some form of price comparison. I have no idea on what is good and what isn't and have found it difficult to get recent reviews on more than one monitor. I need a good resolution, I don't play games, but on the PC alot.

Help on brands and prices (thought I would have to pay £200 at least)

If you're not interested in games then it's fairly simple.  Get as large a TFT as you can afford, with the highest native resolution.  This means that the number of pixels present is exactly the correct number necessary to display at that resolution.  Also make absolutely sure it supports a DVI input, and get a graphics card to match.  There is no substitute for a rock solid image.

    Hope that helps,

    Irf.
