    - Just watch the cost of the drinks & extras. We used one of these vouchers a couple of months ago in Nottingham and it was still £17ish for 2 small fish & chip dinners, 2 sweets & 2 drinks - even after the deduction. Also peas and bread & butter are charged extra - worth bearing in mind - we had no idea that peas would constitute a 'side order' - I think it was 90p for an eggcup full of lukewarm watery processed peas.
TIP: The menu says that you can request Extra Chips at no extra cost, had the waitress come anywhere near us before we had finished our meals we would have taken them up on this ourselves!

I don't mean to run down the offer, I think we must just have had a bad experience, just thought I would pass on the info.

  • Voucher states 'photocopies will not be accepted'.

How do they differentiate between printed vouchers and photocopies?

If the service is as atrocious as in Bournemouth then they ought to give 6 portions for one.
I for one wull not go there again.
  • MIB - I presume that printed would be in colour, and there's sometimes a slight difference in quality, realistically though, they couldn't say much.

BNU - sorry you had a bad experience at HR Nottm, I used to work there a few years ago in the takeaway and kitchen, and I always thought the restaurant was a bit overpriced. The food in the takeaway is identical, only bigger portions of chips and peas. Also, if the peas were tinned :( , then complain, they're only supposed to sell real mushies in the restaurant, they have a giant peaboiler in the kitchen, so there's no excuse really!!
  • I agree with the comment about the Bournemouth branch, I had the most terrible fish and chips ever from Bournemouth that even the sea gulls refused to eat! When I complained via the website I got a £5 voucher which I never used. They say Harry Ramsdens is world famous, I wonder for what they are world famous...
    Even at 2 4 1 I won't be going back!

Im always a tad worried about using interenet vouchers too. Had a bad experience a while back with a similar offer at Harry Ramsdens. Cashier refused to accept the voucher as she said she was unable to tell if it was photocopied or not. Did get in touch with head office but never heard anything back. I could see her point but it was annoying as we wouldn't normally choose to eat there as my husband especially doesn't rate the food.

If u think that was poor, Do not try Rick Steins in Padstow. a piece of fish that probably died of malnutrition, and 6 chips... ( my friend had 5 ) cost, about £20. each..and enough mushy peas to cover a stamp, perhaps it was the free glass of water that inflated the price.

Agree re bad service in Bournemouth. When it first opened a few years ago we went for a take-away treat and they had no COD left!! I wrote to head office n said Harry would be turning in his grave if he knew! (he is dead isn't he  )

I didn't get a voucher just a run of the mill Dear John letter.

Just as a side portion I heard that years ago the day tripper coach drivers used to take the punters to the origional Harry Ramsden's and then use the chippy round the corner cos it was better! :rotfl:
What if there IS no PMS and this is just my personality
  • Sorry to hear about the bad experiences elsewhere, but we used the voucher in Blackpool recently and had an excellent meal and good service.
