please help me re: wireless router

Hi there, i have a wireless router plugged into my computer desktop via the ethernet cable. I want to use a network adaptor in my laptop so i can get internet on that also. is this possible? when i tried last night it found the network but kept saying Aquiring network address ?? it wont connect =(

Yes it's possible but sounds like your router or firewall are blocking the connection.
Do you use password protection on your router and have you set this up on your laptop ?
Can you quickly disable the password protection, connect both PC and Laptop then setup your password again for both ?0 -
Try connecting your laptop to the network using the ethernet cable, goto your router home page and sign in from there,

how do i know what the router home page is ?0

Its in the instructions something like 192.168.1.1 ( depends upon make )
type into the browsers address bar .

windows explorer could not open the search page it says when i type in the web browser number0

goto start, run and type in cmd and hit ok
when you get up the dos window type in ipconfig
you will get
ip address
subnet mask
gateway
The gateway address is your router, ie 192.168.2.1, put this number into your browser address bar.0 -
Once in your router settings page check that the ip address of your laptop isnt in the list for blocked ips,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20
