OP, out of intrest, how old was your other half when he was convicted? If he was under 18 then under the rehabilitation of offenders act then the conviction is classed as "spent" and he no longer has to declare it!!
Hope this helps

i think he was 17 when he commited the crime and 18 when he came out of prison, however it normally says on the websites i go on if anyone has ever been convicted then they wont give me cover, and a few companies i have spoken to say because he was 17 it stays for 5 years on his record.Other women want a boob job. Don't quote me on this, but I think that the rehabilitation of offenders act states that after 7 years the conviction is spent, but if you were under 18 when convicted then it is half that (3.5 years). You will have to do a search to confirm that though.

thanks for the advice i will have to search cos the insurance company said 5 yrs thats the problem though every company gives you different answers, i hate not being covered especially as my parents had a fire last year and i know how much it can cost to replace things (they were insured) and knowing we're not insured i'm so worried whenever i go out in case we're burgaled etcOther women want a boob job. Well spotted sneakymum.
@ Lyndsay - looks like it is 5 years then if he was in clink for over 6 months.
Good luck with the search

That depends, some offences are never spent.
