selling my house privately?

I have had my house on the market for a few months and i am not very impressed with the esate agent. When we gave them the house to sell they promissed us regular updates and we have not heard of them for 12 weeks.

We had 1 viewing which i think is okay, but i think that was a friend or employee of the estate agent, infact im sure she was, but thats another story.

Ive lost all faith in Estate agents, we had 4 come round to give us a valuation and they all seemed desperate, in fact 2 of them were slagging each other off to me, which i think is totally unprofesional.

Anyway im not in a rush to sell now so ive give the estate agent the boot.

What i was going to do is try and sell it privately, ive heard its slower selling privately, but has anyone got any websites they have used and found them good?

Any advie would be well apreciated:confused:

It is a good job that you are in no hurry to sell because my EA Friends say that nothing is moving and they say they know of three EA's that have closed down.

Whereabouts in the country are you? Some of the posts I've read on here would suggest that some areas are still shifting at the right price while others have just ground to a halt altogether.

im in the west midlands, in a little village, its quite a sort after area, but nothing seems to be moving.

Theres 3 houses similar to mine one for 189.950 one for 183.000 and mine is up at 169.950.

the one for 189.950 as a small extension on the back but is an end terrace and the one for 183.000 as had its garage converted into a room as we have integrall garages and one room downstairs and that is a semi detached like mine.

Im in no rush at the moment, i was hoping to move just after christmas as our house as 3 bedrooms, but now the missus is 4 months pregnant with the our 3rd child.

I wont need a fourth bedroom until later next year as the baby will be in our room for the firs 6 months.

If i sell privately i will save about 2000 pound, i just thought i would have a go myself now, as i dont think we will be moving this year and ive got nothing to loose.

Really i want to do it so i can see what sort of interest i can generate myself as all my faith in estate agents is lost.
