How Much Was Your New Car?

I 'm hopefully going to be looking at buying a new car in the next couple of months - but obviously I want to get the best deal possible. I thought it would be useful to set up a thread for users if they have got a good deal on a new car to post details on here.

So if you have got a good deal on your new car can you quote your
make&model/cost&discount achieved/dealer

This will hopefully give other MSE users the opportunity to see what are the best deals out there on a new car and give us the opportunity of some negotiation at the dealers based on other deals out there.

https://www.whatcar.co.uk includes a target price in their reviews. For a bog standard, widely available car you should be able to beat that.

I have had a look at this before, but always think the target prices are on the high side. How much do people find they can get off the target price?

A lot of the dealers on Honest John are internet dealers. I've been to a couple of local dealers recently mentioning the prices I've seen at places like Drive The Deal etc., and quite frankly they don't want to know.

So I suppose the question is how close can you get your local dealer to the prices you see on line?

Hi, 2 years ago was looking for a new Nissan Xtrail, visited local dealers who would not even match the What Car "Target Price". Started looking on the internet and came across "Happy New Car". Had my doubts at first but eventually took the plunge and saved nearly £4000 on a UK Spec car, delivered from a UK franchised dealer to my front door. The car was ordered and delivered within 3 weeks. Its worth a look even if you eventually decide to buy locally.-keith1950

Few years ago got £1500 off list price, half price metallic paint free mats and tank full of petrol. Took me a good 2 hours of hard talk to get that discount though.

Some can obviously beat them by a large margin.
Vauxhall Meriva "Club" 1.7CDTi with pearlescent paint. Factory option tilt steering column. Dealer fit velour mats, mudflaps, cruise control, full tank of fuel, 12 months tax.
£13272. RRP for same spec. over £16000.
Non of the internet brokers were even close even for the standard "Club".
I didn't even have to use the internet quotes as a bargaining lever.

I ordered a Skoda Octavia 2.0 FSi vRS last July which was delivered 1st October.

The Car listed at £18.075 which included free upgrades: 18" Zenith Alloy Wheels, Rear Electric Windows, Dual Zone Air Conditioning, Jumbo Box. Plus 3 Years Free Servicing if bought with Skoda Finance at 5.2%

So in general a pretty good deal from the start, I had a Part Ex plus added Xenon Lights, Maxi-Dot, Front & Rear Parking Sensors, Light Assist, Auto Wipers & Auto Rear Dipping Mirror and Paint & Interior Protection treatment. All retailed at £1,565. So an RRP fully spec'd at £19,640. I paid £18,100 in total then minus my trade in which was over the max 30% deposit so got £4K back cash.

So was well please with the deal.
    Cheers
