Advice wanted

I had a bank account with abbey.
I have over the years paid some £4,000.00 in bank charges for unauthorised overdrafts, unpaid direct debits ect.
I was going to try to reclaim my bank charges from them, so I opened another account with TSB and tried to close my abbey account.
My account was in an unauthorised overdraft with a balance of £625.22dr.
I sent abbey a cheque to clear this and close the account.
But as I had charges due to go onto my account so the account remained open and went back into unauthorised overdraft.
I ended up paying 2 more cheques to clear my account totalling £322.84.
of course everytime i paid the balance, charges were applied in the next statement.
Finally i wrote a letter to abbey about this and the wrote back saying,

"It does not appear that abbey explained to that you had an interest payment pending, incured shortly after you closed your account.
Abbey have applied a monthly unauthorised overdraft charge since."

They go on to accept blame for these charges, saying they were clearing my account to £0.00 by refunding charges in order to close it and have arranged for interest debited to be credited back to my account.

Does this mean my account will be in credit? I dont know where I stand with the £322.84 I paid in charges? Can any one help me with how to handle this futher?
Do I ask for the £322.84?
I'm confused.

Never mind just the £322 add that to the £4000 and claim all your charges back.

I asked them for bank statements on three occasions but the keep sending out ones they already sent and I have about a year missing.
I cannot afford to pay the £10 for statements again.
