Dropped out of course...before finishing...

If you drop out of a course before qualifying/graduating, what happens your student loan.... does it become repayable immediately....or do you still have the facility to repay when you start work and your salary is over a certain amount as per the normal conditions?
I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

    You will start repaying in the April after you dropped out if you are earning over the threshold.

    I know the question is hypothetical, but if it is something you ahve done or are thinking about doing remember to call your LEA and let them know so your funding can be sorted out and you don't end up oweing some immediately!

    I don't think dropping out is necessarily a waste but I would suggest seriously thinking whether it is the right thing to do. Are the things making you want to drop out temporary/changeable/can they be lived with until you complete/ can you transfer to a different uni/course to complete your studies.

    I think people only look back and thinking dropping out was a waste for them if they dont' consider everey option before they drop out and later think if only I had...
