Please help with insurance liability issue

I had a car accident on 13/02/2008 where the other driver went into the rear side of my car.He admitted Fault and gave me his name,address and reg.There were witnesses and he said that i wont need the witnesses because he admits fault because he was rushing to get somewhere and didnt notice my car.
I got home and rang my insurance company(centurion)and i informed them about the accident.My car was classed as a write off.That afternoon i got a call from HELPHIRE who offered me a courtesy car.I have been ringing helphire to find the status of my claim but it has been 2 months since the accident but the third parties insurance say ''we are not in a position to accept liability as we are carrying out enquiries''
yesterday I got a call from HELPHIRE telling me that the courtesy car that i am using will be taken back on monday 14/04/2008.
Please could someone tell me why arent the third parties insurance company admitting fault after 2 months since accident and if possible how can i keep the courtesy car until I have been paid out for my car or is it possible to keep taxi and public transport reciepts and then claim from them went i get paid out for my car?
