OK Sooooooooooo......need experienced advice
First loaf came out brilliant - very unexpected BUT unfortunately it held on to the little paddle and I didn't notice when I put the second mix in (you can guess the mess that came out after run 2)
big old unmixed, unkneaded mostly flour mess.
Can someone tell me how to prevent the first loaf stealing the paddle? is it simply a case of chiselling it out of it after it's baked?

In a word.............. yes
My paddle sometimes comes out ok, sometimes I have to dig it out. I found the end of my whisk from the hand mixer to be very good for this0 -
If you can time it correctly, you can lift up the dough and remove the paddle after the last "knockback". The pan shouldn't be too hot and the resulting hole is only as big as the spindle that holds the paddle."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

You'll need to check the timing list/chart in your manual. Then do the lift early in the final rise time before baking.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I'm going out today to buy up all the ingredients that I need to make a few white loaves
I've noticed that quite a few MSE BM users mention using milk powder in their recipes....
can anyone tell me why this is? I'm a BM Novice0 -

I use a blunt pencil:rotfl:
Ref the milk powder I use it on a basic white loaf as it seems to give the bread a better texture, it seems to make the bread softer for me but some people dont add it at all and their bread still turns out ok so I guess its a personal preference thing
I get the cheapest milk powder so it literally costs a few pennies each time I make a loaf of bread and then the powder lasts ages in the cupboard and is a fab standby for when I run out of fresh milkJune Grocery Challenge 270.80/250July Grocery Challenge 0/3000 -
