    Men are simple - and hence simple to understand. It's when women attribute things beyond the usual "stimulus-response" that the trouble happens...

    Ex boyfriend from over a year ago, still texts me very regularly, never phones, just the texting to see how I am and what I am doing, nothing weird, rarely sexual, just chats. maybe on average once or twice a week.

    why is he doing this?

    I am a girl but I reckon one of two things

    1) he wants to keep tabs on whether you are single or not because he still doesn't like the idea of you with someone else and knows that if he keeps in touch you will find it harder to move on

    or

    2) he is keeping in touch on the off chance of 'bonus night' but hasn't quite got the balls to suggest it

    As it is a boy it is probably #2

    I think if he wanted to be 'just friends' then it wouldn't be so regular, although he might just be feeling lonely and want chat but I am a cynical old witch so I reckon it is one of the options above.
