Hi Deals
Firstly I am an IFA so please do not take this post as advice as that has a specific meaning for a regulated person like me.
You have 2 choices really. One is to use the web which should be the cheapest option and if your requirements are simple i.e you want £100k for 10 years may be fine. But there are caveats.
The other is to use an advisor. What would we offer? If someone is independent they can keep costs down by searching the market. They can provide trust advice which could potentially save 40% in inheritance tax and would lead to a quicker payout. They could look at combining your policies if that would be cheaper. There are different types of policies depending on what you want the cover i.e ones that payout monthly rather than in a lump sum.
So there is a role for expert advice which has a cost usually by the premium being higher which at the end could save you a lot. So it depends on your priorities really. A cheapish policy rather than the cheapest can be the best value if you can get advice which benefits your dependents.
Good luck whichever route you take.I am an Independent Financial Adviser. For regulated individuals like me there are rules on giving financial advice. Therefore any posts I make are meant to be helpful but are not financial advice.0
