Everyones different views and opinions have all really helped, it was good to get views from actual students too rather than just teachers and parents etc! Its definitely gave me more confidence in whatever I do now hearing certain comments.

    Thanks again!!! :T

  • I'm another vote for the "sod what everyone else thinks, and do what's right for you" camp.

When I left school I ended up going for a year out just working (to the great satisfaction of my teachers, since I bunked 3/4 of my 6th form, and despite getting good results, they wrote me off'). Anyway, after that I got offers from Kings, Queen Mary, Goldsmiths, UCL, Middlesex and Hertfordshire (where I live). I ended up going to QM to do European Studies and German & Italian, and quite frankly, I hated it. Although my classes were interesting, the European Studies wasn't really what I wanted to do.

So to cut a long story short, I dropped out of QM (one of the best in the country for languages, oops!) and ended up going to Middlesex to do Education Studies with German & Italian. It's definitely not as well regarded, and although I'm on track to get a First, no doubt everyone will always look down slightly as it's from a lesser well-known uni. However, now I'm on my year out in Berlin, my German is just as good as those from 'better institutions' (since 3/4 of a German degree isn't actually in language anyway!) However, thanks to Mdx, I truly enjoy my course, have some amazing teachers and am on track to go exactly where I want to go in life (teaching primary kids foreign languages and then working my way upto a headship).

So I guess the moral of the story is, do what makes you happy, and if you muck it up, don't worry as there is always another chance. Actually, that was two morals, but I'm sure you won't mind! Good luck in whatever you choose. :j
