Hi taurusgb's daughter here.....My AS level Geography coursework in due in on Monday and my teachers has been away for weeks so I don't know whether I have done the right thing. Do you know of any websites that do sample coursework pieces for free or offer help in any way so that I can atleast check that I am doing the right thing?

You should have your task - maybe others on your course have done the work - but don't expect them to do it for you.
Do you have a copy of the syllabus or could you download one?
If you did happen on someone else's work on the internet for goodness sake rewrite it in your own words.
You really can do this - you have two days of hard work ahead. Try not to worry at first about the quality of your writing just plan a bit and then write whatever comes into your head.
Give yourself treats every now and then and turn off msn and your mobile.
Good luck.0 -

Hello
Thanks for responding to my daughter's question, however I think you have misunderstood what she was asking. She isn't looking to copy anyone elses work or anything like that, she is merely looking for examples to help her understand exactly what is required. her tutor has been off sick and has just returned, given the class a hand in date and NO back up advice for students to know whether their understanding of what is required is correct.
My daughter had straight A* for her GCSE's and studys every waking moment - she is desperate to know she is on the right track and can't find a copy of the sylabus to download...all she really wants is for someone who has already done AS level geography to offer some advice about what is specifically required.....hope that makes sense?

Not sure whether this will be helpful..
Depending on which exam board is providing the qualification AQA or OCR are usually the main ones
You can find a specification for the course for AQA here:
Geography A: http://www.aqa.org.uk/qual/pdf/AQA-5031-6031-W-SP-08.PDF
Geography B: http://www.aqa.org.uk/qual/pdf/AQA-5036-6036-W-SP-08.PDF
I think you'll probably need the Geography A one as this seems to be the coursework specification. Geography B just seems to be all exam based.
The specs are pretty brief but they may just give you the help you need.
This is where they are from:
http://www.aqa.org.uk/qual/gceasa/geoa.php
OCR:
Geography A: http://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications/as_alevelgce/geography_a/
Geography B: http://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications/as_alevelgce/geography_b/
Sorry if this is information you already have.0 -
Hi,
Trying to remember back to what I did. Did you do coursework for GCSE Geography? It will be fairly similar to this but obviously a bit deeper. You will probable need some primary data (ie something you collected yourself - surveys, sketches of local area, interviews) and secondary data (from somewhere else - website of statistics, newspaper article). You will need to discuss what the data shows and try to find reasons for it. Once you have done that work out what you can learn from it and if it leads to anything further that you can investigate (useful to put in a conclusion/evaluation is future areas for research). Give a page or so of information on the area being studied. Give some background to the topic too. It might be helpful if you post what your title/are of study is. I hope this is some help. I know how hard it is to do things without guidance. Just back up your reasonings for things as much as possible.0 -
Normally sample coursework from the exam boards is only available for people involved with the exams at school like the exams officer and sometimes the head of subject.
When I did A-Level geography (only last year) I didn't have to do any coursework to do in my AS year only 1 bit in my A2 year but this varied depending what field-trip the school ran so really it was school dependent so finding sample coursework on the internet wouldn't be much help. My teacher had samples from previous years which he showed us.0
