Any one know where I can reasonable priced doors size 78 " X 28 and half ".
Standard sizes don't seem to include half inches,
And I need to replace some soon.
I assume someone like Travis Perkins or Jewsons would be best.
Many thanks in advance.

I know you can order doors from Wickes that are slightly smaller or larger than normal. If you get one that is 78 X 29 (an inch smaller than standard) you can file down the half inch. This is what the guy did with mine. I don't think the price is any more than the standard size.0

The size of door you need is 2040(h)x726(w)x40mm(thick) - 726mm wide is 28 1/2" and is a standard metric size which you should be able to pick up from any decent DIY shop or builders merchants. If your height is 78" (1981mm) you will need to cut down height of door . This is simple if it`s a solid door as you only need to trim 40mm off top and 20mm off bottom .
Visit http://www.xljoinery.com/ and click on internal doors then look at different styles available which also shows you sizies . If you contact them they will put you in contact will a local supplier of their doorsI`m now officially too old to die young0 -
Two ways you can do this, either by buying a 27" wide door snd adding 3/4" inch to both stiles( the part of the door you put your hinges on) or buying a 29" door, if you can find it and planning 1/4" off both stiles...You wouldnt need to then cut anything of the height!!In this trusted place U can erase

What do you call a decent DIY shop. I looked in wickes (which I think is a bit better then B&Q, Focus) the other day and no mention what so ever of 28 and half inches wide doors I have seen the following sizes 24, 27, 28,29, 30, 32.
Think I need to talk to TP.
I was trying to avoid any trimming as it just means extra work. Which means a small job to fit a door turns in to farce and takes all day. And wanted to do it cheaply which this does not seem it is going to be  As a last resort was going to be get 29 inch wide door and trim it down. But that means it has to be a solid one.
Why is when I buy a house the doors are never a standard flipping size. Do I never learn.
Thanks

Calleyw ,
When enquiring about the door sizes don`t mention 28" under any circumstance as this leads them to look at imperial sized doors , i.e. 24" 27" etc . Be sure that they realise you need a metric size door . You want one 2040x726mm If you get no success then you should give xljoinery a `phone or Email . They CAN and WILL be able to offer the size you need and will put you in touch with a local supplierI`m now officially too old to die young0 -

or, you can just put a 1/2 inch thich piece of wood on the door frame so that you close the door size by 1/2 inch and you can get a standard size door.

With a 29 inch door you will be able to trim it down by the required amount even if it is not solid. Trimming isnt that difficult - use a jigsaw and plane.I think....0
