What to do with these darn $$$$$$

Options
Hello,
I am about to receive US$5000, and a further US$5000 in a couple of months and I was wondering what do with it. I dont want to change it in to Sterling as I travel to the United States and other US$ countries with work. As a UK resident I have looked at Offshore savings accounts, but either I dont have the minimum balance available or there is a charge.

I basically would like to:
  • Maintain the balance as US Dollars.
  • Have access to the funds instantly.
  • Have access to the funds via a debit card.
  • Pay minimum charges or nil is possible.
Hopefully someone can help? (Plus tax issue information would be good)

Many Thanks

  • I have read on here that citbank will allow you to open an American Bank account in Dollars. The branch is registered to a New York branch address, so I would assume you put the dollars in that account when you open it, or pay in when you are in the States. I think you have to go to the London office to open the account. Have a search on the forum!

Bit of a weird post from bristolleedsfan...?
