Waterstones - lovely, lovely man

Just back from the shops which included a trip into Waterstones. There were a selection of books on a sale table, mostly quite obscure but hidden amongst them a really nice one - Organic Living by Michael Van Straten marked at £7.99. I always like to know how much of a bargain I'm getting but unfortunately company policy had meant that the original price had been obscured very proficiently by black marker. Took it to the checkout to ask and the lovely, lovely man told me that it had originally been £19.99. Quite happy that I was getting a bargain I was about to hand over the money when he said I could have it for £4.99! He then explained that they are quite open to (and expect) customers to haggle (presumably just for the sale stock that they want rid of but I'm not entirely sure) and although I hadn't, he had taken it upon himself to do it for me. Result = one happy customer who will certainly be going back and spending more money in their store. :j
If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...
