£34 car insurance!!!

Options
Just thought I'd let ya know of my result when it came to car insurance today. Went through all the screenscrapers etc and got a best quote for £134.40 from Churchill - not bad at £140 less than my renewal quote!

So then looked to see what cashback sites did Chruchill and see that Quidco offer £100, so all being well, once the transaction has been validated, I'll be getting fully comp insurance for £34.40 this year, a massive £232 cheaper than my renewal quote!!!

    Nice one Dan :)

I also got mine this year for the princely sum of £45, thanks to AIG Direct and Quidco, now that it's validated. £135 for the policy and £90 quidco cash.

If anyone was in any doubt, it's definitely the way to do it :D

Oh well, i did mine with PO last month for £50 cashback - will do better next year. Still can't work out how to do quidco, since failing to get the cashback due on a freezer bought a couple of years back(to store the R&R meat from Mr T - true!).

I've had success with Quidco so far. To help things along for all the cashback sites I use a separate browser when ordering through those. For example:

My day to day browser is Firefox and I do my research from there. Once I've found my deal, I then fire up Opera and go to Martin's incredibly useful Cashback Checker to see if I can get cashback. If I can I then go to the cachback site from within Opera and place my order via their websites. That way there's no cookies or cache records of any previous browsing through the suppliers site within Opera, so the purchase should be registered.

  • My insurance renewal quote was £318.. my cheapest quote was for £290 from privilege and then i found out that through quidco i could get £100 off so i did that so my insurance has cost me £190 as long as i get the cashback that is..

So in total i've saved about £130..

How do you get the cashback? I've clicked through quidco and got a quote for my home insurance. Do you pay for it and then get the cashback later?

With most cashback sites you have some control over when the money will be paid to you, but it generally takes a month or two for the purchase to be validated and suchlike, before the funds become available to you. I've just checked my car ins buy from yesterday, and it's showing as the validated and will be available in May. So I'll have it transferred directly into my bank account then :D

We took out car insurance through kwik fit insurance.

    fully comp it was £150

we went through quidco and got £42.50 back.
kwik fit also threw in a free mot worth £45, a free winter oil change worth £30 & a 10% discount card for use with tyres, exhausts etc.

So our insurance has cost us the grand total of £33.,

(which i am sure we will reduce by the end of the year as im sure we will need a new tyre or two)
