British Gas Homecare
Just in case anyone else has a free year on British Gas Homecare after a BG installation, but not planning to renew, make sure you get your service done in time.
I had a new boiler installed all but a year ago by British Gas. A bit more expensive, but worked hard to get the price as low as possible, but one of the plus points in my decision was the free homecare contract for a year.
The agreement clearly states I am entitled to a free service / safety check before expiry. When I rang up for the appointment they told me that as soon as I renew they check it out then, and as they installed in originally a year ago they didn't need to maintain it any earlier.
In the past I have got used to the service slipping a month or two a year so over time they save the cost of a service, but there is the right to a service under the free year clearly written into the deal.
A year old boiler that has performed well for the last year hardly needs the six spring / summer months covered, so I anticipated an autumn renewal, so wanted it looked at now.
Unbelievably I had to tell them I would take it up with BG executive before they would relent and perform what is clearly part of the contract.

Hi,
Is it possible to cancel Homecare if I haven't completed a year? have not made any claims.
Thanks
