Renting from the National Trust

Hello Everyone!
Can anyone help please?
Does anyone have any insider knowlege of renting from the National Trust? Anything I should know? What kind of credit check do they do? The lady said they do a credit search, won't that just be another unwanted search on my credit file if I don't get it?
Any information would be very much appreciated.
I have never rented in my life, so it feels a bit scarey.
Thanks

I'm not sure completely sure about renting from them, but I used to work for the NT on a big estate with lots of houses on it, that they rented out (lots of the staff lived there). As far as I was aware, it was exactly like renting from any organisation/letting agency (credit check wise). The only major difference I could see was that they were quite strict about the 'look' of the property - gardens had to be maintained fairly well etc, and the houses did have to be looked after ... going off what the people who rented there said, they were a bit more 'strict' about it than I've experienced with 'normal' landlords. However on the up side they did seem to be well up on maintaining the properties, although 'big' jobs could take forever to get approval if it was an unusual or listed property.0

Where are they listed as I fancy renting a NT property?

Hi South Coast
they advertise your local press, or you could call your local NT office. The rents are quite high, but then its for life! I doubt if I'll get this one to be honest, and it is in the middle of nowhere, but I think I will give it a try. I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow, then the official viewing day is next week. Apparently they are looking for a local family... well, I'm local - as the crow flies, but there's a bit of water in the way!

Thanks for the info.
I have never seen them advertised, but have now decided that I want to rent in the grounds of this:

The National Trust normally advertises houses for rent through local agents. Here in Yorkshire I would have loved to have rented a property but, apparently, a couple of years ago their rents were hiked and are now at a price I can't afford.
Good luck! I hope you succeed.0 -
Hi Littleowl
they are expensive here too, but in line with other rental properties. £850 for a 3 bed semi is a little on the high side, but only just.
Southcoast - I'm with you, looks lovely, doesn't it?0
