Download and run memory tester to test the RAM first.

Do you use ATI Graphics on your machine?
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

    1st floppy Drive

    Network:realtek Boot agent

it will allow me to press enter to select boot device or ESC to boot using defaults.

Best way I've found to get the safe mode menu is when its beginning to start up switch it off and restart it.
Also download Autoruns put it on the root of c drive. When you run it in safe mode it will show everything running and if there's anything that looks iffy then it's easier to delete in safe mode.
