Recently certain websites that use Flash have started to crash i.e. "IE has encounted a problem and needs to close" it then states that the flash ad on is the problem.
I have disabled flash now, but it is frustrating as quite a lot of sites use Flash
I have updated IE to the latest version, removed and reinstalled flash, but this hasn;t helped. I have also run a full virus scan and Spybot and this has been clear.
Any ideas

It may be worth doing a full reset on IE7.
Tools - > Internet Options -> Advanced -> Reset -> Reset - Restart IE7.
Russ- Google is your friend, use it :rolleyes:0 -
Best solution use Firefox.

I had this problem on a machine at work yesterday, I work as an IT Support Engineer in my day job and this is the fifth time this has happend in the last week, what you need to do is disable flash player from the internet explorer add in's and restart IE7, with the add in disabled go to Adobe web site and download flash again, re-enable add in's and there you go...sorted.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

I've followed you as I have the same problem. However if you read my other posts you will realise I'm not too bright with computers, I would willing do as you suggest if only I understood it.......:-))
If you are willing please PM me with very simple words of one syllable instructions

Why don't you just delete the c:\windows\system32\macromed directory, or rename it. Saves all the effort as Flash will just reinstall itself.0

I've found the folder, sorry but how do I rename it....back to basics I'm afraid
Do I just click the folder that's called Flash and then call it RealPain (or something) Where will I find it to unistall it, I've looked in Add and Remove programs in Control Panel, found Adobe flash player ActiveX but there's nothing against it to show what size it is, like for the other programs. ATIDisplay Driver is another program that hasn't got a size for it.
I can see you tearing your hair out now....0 -
RightClick on the folder and select rename or just highlight the folder and hit the delete key.0

The macromed directory is perfectly safe to rename or delete as it has nothing at all to do with the operating system though I know where you are coming from.0
