Saying "Avoid less than a Gig of memory" in my initial post about refurbs does not seem to have prevented statements of the obvious from following.
    Clarify your statement please...
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

    Let it alone, buglawton.

The OP statement of looking to buy reconditioned lap top for personal use nothing fancy, but able to use for internet access., effectively 'stymies' your suggestion of looking for a reconditioned laptop on the Tier1 website.

For the price of anything with 1GB RAM on that website, one can obtain a brand new laptop with 2GB RAM, new battery, higher capacity HDD......

So the moral of the story is...dont buy a refurb laptop unless you really have to.

If you are really on a budget, Bigpockets have this for £140: IBM T21.

You'll need more RAM, here. 256 MB for £13.49 delivered. Don't expect to use it without a mains connection.
