anyone know how to get really bad stains from a white acrylic sink? Daughter just bought new house and previous occupant wasn't too fussy on cleaning. We are using vinegar, soda, borax, all the usual remedies on bathroom and elsewhere, but not sure what will work on the kitchen sink.

Try soaking it overnight in a dilute solution of bleach. This works with mine, and is recommended by the makers of Corian (sounds as if your sink might be made of this stuff - get your head in the cupboard and have a look at the bottom of the sink to see if it's labelled Corian). Might need a few goes if the previous occupant didn't clean it much. Corian can also be cleaned with Bar Keeper's Friend (from supermarkets). Works a treat but needs a good rinse.0

If bleach does not work then buy a pot of Astonish cleaning paste (white) for £1 - this is slightly abrasive and used on a damp cloth works wonders."This site is addictive!"

Hi
I've had white sinks for about six or seven years now. The absolute best thing to get stains off is the cut side of a fresh lemon. Just rub it on the stain for a while. If the stain is especially stubborn then you might need to leave the lemon on top of it (use sellotape if you must). This has worked on rust and various mystery stains in my experience, give it a go!0
