Can't change Gas tariff because of independent carrier.
Have been told by npower that we cannot change from the standard gas charge because our gas is transported over an independent carrier (what ever that is). Anyhow, this means that the comparison sites are useless because I'm guess that if npower cannot change, neither will any of the others.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reduce the gas bill?
Thanks

If your Meter Point Number begins with a 7 you are on an independent network. Some suppliers charge you more for the builders choosing this network, others don't.
If they don't, I see no reason why you can't get onto the cheaper online tariffs.

Energy suppliers have special IGT (Independent Gas Transporter) tarrifs, its basically because the gas pipes leading to your property are owned by an independent company.
Some suppliers do not charge extra for IGT supplies if you have both fuels through them (EDF and a few others).Cashback earned
