Ginger Trifle
1 Jamaica Ginger Cake Sliced
1 Tin of Pears (Chop them up a bit)
Drizzle over some ginger wine.
Custard - You can either cheat here with Birds Eye or shop bought. I however am my own worst enemy and make mine from scratch eggs, cream, vanilla pods etc
Then whip up some double cream and either pipe or spread on top, to this I then decorate with some crystalised ginger.
Timer is going off will post tiramasu in a short while.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

How about Fruit Skewers!
We alternated Strawberry and Grapes on each Skewer layed the horizontally the vertically on top and so on! I think every single person commented on how nice they were and looked!
The contrasting colours make them look fantatic!

PS
I came across this recipe as something you could whip up out of the storecupboard hence tinned custard. I just like to make things a little more difficult for myself.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

Instead of 'boring' sandwiches make up a cheese and meat board and a big plate of crusty rolls and let people add their own toppings. Even the little one love to chew on a slice of french bread.
Hope this helps

Ok Tiramasu
1 Pk Sponge Fingers
1 x 250g Tubs Mascarpone Cheese
3 Eggs - Seperated
4 Dessert Spoons Caster Sugar
1 Cup Strong Black Coffee with a dash of brandy
Macarpone - I use Tesco - whatever you do don't change your mind and follow their recipe on the lid. I did and it was just one sloppy disaster.
Coffee - I just make up strong instant
Method
Make coffee and leave to cool - Don't forget to add the brandy
Whizz up egg yolks and sugar.
Beat cheese and then add egg yolk mixture - Incorporate in portions makes it easier to blend.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into cheese mixture.
Dip biscuits in coffee and make a layer (just a quick dip flick and lift - Don't drown them)
Add a layer of cheese mixture and repeat. Cheese should be your last layer.
Cover with clingfilm and chill for several hours preferably overnight. Prior to serving (can do this at least a couple of hours in front). Crush a flake (or 6!!) depends on how much you like choc and mix with cocoa (not drinking choc) sprinkle over the top and return to fridge until ready to serve.
Enjoy

This is a great thread, thanks to all who are posting on it. I have to prepare a cold buffet for a party in a couple of weeks and I've now got a fair sized list of what can be done, especially on a budgetI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
