Cash Back Credit Card

Can anyone help me to see which is the best Cash back deal at the moment? I don't want to go for Amex as it is not widely used, so I was thinking of Visa or Mastercard. There are so many comparison sites....It is quite confusing, so it would be nice to have the opinion of real people.
Thank you;)

I would follow Martin's advice to make your decision as he has already considered these points before reconmending such cards.
It is American Express is widely available at all the major shops for food and petrol all garages etc there is a list on this forum it is comprehensive.
If you shop in all the normal places like Boots,Sainsbury's and Tesco's you won't have any problems.

    Amex
    Abbey - supermarket
    Egg

    is the rundown.

Have you thought about a reward card?

I use Skycard and the rewards are added monthly (1%) so I can get the money off my sky bill straight away.

When I had a cashback card from Halifax years ago I had to wait a year for the payment.

I've not had anywhere not accept my Amex card yet.
Best rate by far and you can get £33.75 cashback via quidco.

amex is not really widely accepted by small local retailers but all the biggies take it...
