Travel Insurance Query

I'm off for a short trip in just a couple of days and need some travel insurance. I'm a bit wary because the last trip I had to the same country, my suitcase was broken into and I had some things stolen. Turns out the travel insurance I had then (the cheapest my other half could book) didn't cover checked in valuables. Is this the same for all travel insurance? When I read the different types of cover it talks about baggage and valuables but doesn't say whether its for checked in luggage or not.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I don't want to have the same thing happen again if I can help it!

Cheaper insurance probably won't cover personal possessions.I don't think its relevant they werechecked in.Take your time, don'tjust book the cheapest, its not cost effective.Read the cover. The comparison allow you to see this quite easily.0
