In Marrakech I'd recommend the Riad Mogador - a traditional style Riad, fantastic decor, lovely staff, just a few minutes walk from the square and cheap prices to boot. I'd go back in a flash!!

I would also recommend Riad Boussa. Again a few minutes walk from the main square, very reasonably priced, and owned and run by a very friendly french couple.

As well as the Rough Guide, the Rough Guide map on 'plastic' paper is very good and detailed enough to actually find your way around.

If you want a few hours away from the hub-bub of the main town, do go out to the Jardin Majorelle, it is a great place to just chill out for a couple of hours.

Another vote for Jardin Majorelle.

If it gets too hot in Marrakech there is a nice trip to Setti Fatma a village in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Being a bit higher it is cooler and a lot of locals come out here to picnic in the summer. There are some good walks around including waterfalls up to the left as you arrive there. No need to have a 'guide' although many will offer their services to you.

The cheapest way to get there is by shared taxis which leave regularly from just outside the town walls. If you are feeling flush you can buy all of the seats and have the car to yourself (6 passengers in a Mercedes is a bit of a squash!).
