Orzo pasta (Greek/Turkish?)

Hello folks - on a bargain hunt in Tesco's (again) I picked up a packet of this for 22p. The packet alone is a tingle. I realise its a pasta & it says cook for 17mins - but I really hope one of you great gals (& guys) can give me a great recipe for it? It looks like long grain rice, but its semolina if that helps?
Many thanks

Hi, in my Approved Foods order I've got 'deidentified' cough Aldi cough cheese and tomato orzo. I thought it would come with cooking instructions, but it doesn't. I had a look for it in my local today, but couldn't see any. Do any of you lovely people have the instructions at all?

Thanks for that! The links look good.

I think a bit of experimentation is in order, as it's packaged like those 'instant pasta' meals where you just add water.

What is Orzo? I've never heard of it :D
  • I had some appropved food orzo (not the aldi one though). My instructions said to add 450ml of boiling water and cook for 10-12 minutes until tender. My sachet was 100g.

    Hope that helps.

  • I bought some of this from Aldi on Monday - my packet is 180g. It says add 600ml of boiling water and simmer for 10-12 mins.

Orzo's kind of like pasta, but it's in the shape of large rice grains. It's a bit weird eating it cos it's much smaller than ordinary pasta but it is nice.
