Would your home insurance cover a new worktop? If unable to replace exact same tops, it may cover refurbishing all kitchen worktops.

    Good luck

For the money saving idea which will cost you nothing,.....

libre 10 is coorrect. This is an insurance claim. I have fitted many work tops a s a result of people claiming ob their insurance as a result of the claim. Not only do they pay form the worktop, but also ancillary works eg removal and re commissioning of cookers, hobs, sinks etc, plus any tiling needed as a result.

I thought about claiming through the insurance, but OH thinks that will make the premium go up?

If you live near an MFI clearance warehouse then they have worktops in there - I know because I have seen them in the one at Merry Hill.

Don't be too hard on your OH - he is only a man and can't help it:rotfl:

Your DH is a genius. He knows he will never be trusted to do the cooking again, meaning he has got out of doing it!

It may but not only by a small percentage and that will no where be the full cost of the claim. The last one I did was over £1400 and your premium won't go up by that amount. Also, if you have a good claims history, it should make no difference at all.
